SWEDISH DEEP TISSUE

Swedish deep tissue techniques can vary in touch. It can be a relaxing light touch or a deep tissue massage combined with some trigger point release. These techniques are used to target and manipulate tight muscle & fascia. Treatment techniques vary depending on an individual’s preferences.

SPORTS MASSAGE THERAPY (SMT)

This would be ideal for athletes who are focusing on pre-event preparations or post event recovery. Sports Massage Therapy can be used to help enhance performance, recovery and injury prevention. The bodywork used in SMT are usually sport specific and geared towards the athletes deficits.

FASCIAL STRETCH THERAPY (FST)

FST consists of techniques that assist in stretching, PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) which is a combination of muscle contraction and relaxation, and joint traction. This would ideally be used for individuals who lack range of motion due to muscle/fascia tightness and locked up body segments. FST helps with body alignment and loosening up fascia lines & joints by creating space for movement.

CUPPING

Dry cupping uses either plastic, silicone, or glass cups with a suction pump to lift soft tissue in an upwards direction. Your skin will rise and redden as blood vessels expand and may result in yellow-red-dark purple marks on your skin. It is believed that the darker the mark, the more toxins are being pulled from deeper muscles and that the blood was more stagnant there. Cupping allows more blood flow to the area, thus, increasing blood to that specific cupping area, which in turn, can help reduce inflammation in another area by pulling more blood and fluid there. Great to use for stiff or weak muscles, also to help areas that are congested, and areas that simply have poor blood circulation.

GUA SHA / FASCIAL SCRAPING

This is heavily integrated traditional Chinese medicine modality but super effective at manually releasing fascia. Clinicians will use IASTM(instrumented assisted soft tissue mobilization) tools such as medical grade stainless steel, jade, Gratson, HawkGrips, and RockTape tools to break up adhesions, reduce scar tissue associated with trauma (strained muscles, tendons, pulled ligaments, fascia contractures, etc). These are all hand-held tools used to apply pressure on soft tissue to relieve pain and tension by “scraping” in a multi-direction method. Super effective for those with acute or chronic sports injury and that has stubborn fascia restriction. This can help break up those adhesions and improve your range of motion, blood circulation to stimulate healing and help manage muscle/fascia pain.

ACUPUNCTURE - COMING SOON

Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine and is a key component of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Hundreds of clinical studies on the benefits of acupuncture show that it can treat conditions ranging from musculoskeletal problems (back pain, neck pain, and others) to nausea, migraine headache, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and infertility. Although there’s lots of studies conducted, acupuncture remains unclear and results can vary between individuals. This treatment involves the trained therapist to insert very thin needles through an individual’s skin at various meridian points of the body to various depths. These thin needles are inserted into a person’s body with the aim of balancing their energy, it is claimed to help boost an individual’s wellbeing.
